Our vintage Malthe ginger jar is made from the red clay earth of Makou Town in Hubei, China a region long known for producing everyday storage vessels. Historically these jars held staple goods—larger forms stored rice or eggs handled versions held oil and ginger jars were commonly used for salt. Each piece is handmade, with carved and painted surface patterns that vary from jar to jar. Use it as a floor vessel, shelf object or sculptural accent. Size, color and markings differ based on the jar’s original use and history.
