These vintage wooden rice containers once measured grain by the kilo across rural China—hand-carried from field to kitchen, worn by daily weight and weather. This larger version brings more presence, more patina, and more practical surface area—whether used as a catch-all, planter base, or simply placed to slow down a shelf.
As vintage pieces, each rice carrier varies slightly in size and style. Some have metal patches and stitching that were added to shore up the container's joints for daily use. The photos here show two examples of how they might look. In the lifestyle image, you’ll spot the rice carrier placed on the far right of the console.

Our founder's story
More Than Just Beautiful Things
At Hello Norden, we’re not here to sell trends. We’re here to help you create spaces that feel like you. Spaces that calm your body, support your nervous system, and tell a story you recognize as your own.
Every piece we offer—vintage, made-to-order, or newly crafted—is chosen for how it feels, not just how it looks.
Founder Kassina Folstad spent 22 years designing spaces and studying how environments impact the body. That led to the creation of the RUTED Method—a science-backed, story-rich approach to design that’s changing the way we think about home.
